ĐÀ NẵNG — Myanmar and the Philippines will co-host the ASEAN Football Federation’s (AFF) Championships (AFF Cup), group competition from November  一 九 to December  一 七.

Representatives from the Philippines football federation confirmed at the fourth meeting of the AFF’s Council Meeting in Đà Nẵng on Saturday that it will complete the preparations for co-hosting the championship with Myanmar.

As scheduled, the official draw of the AFF Championship will take place at Yangoon, Myanmar, on August  二nd.

Meanwhile, Cambodia, Laos, Timor Leste and Brunei will compete in one leg round-robin qualifiers from October  一 三- 二 二 with the two top teams going to the final round.

Six teams, including defending champion Thailand, runner-up Malaysia, Việt Nam, Singapore and co-hosts Myanmar and the Philippines, will receive wildcards for the final round. 

The final round of AFF Championship is scheduled to begin on November  一 九 to December  一 七, with the participation of eight teams in two groups.

The semi-final and finals will be played in two legs, at home and away turf.

At the meeting on Saturday, the AFF also hosted a draw for the  二0 一 六 AFF U 一 九 Youth Championship to be held in Việt Nam this September.

As a result, the host, Việt Nam, has drawn in group A with Malaysia, Timor Leste, Singapore, and the Philippines. Group B will see Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Brunei, and Australia.

During the meeting, the football federation of Thailand also introduced its new chairman, Pisan Chuldilok, and new general secretary, Thanasak Suraprassert. — VNS
